Do you relate?

Yes
I am a web site architect for the European Patent Office, which employs more than 7,000 people. As my day job and also in my spare time, I create and implement web sites and constantly run into issues with IE6, 7 and 8 which are simply not present in Firefox 3.x nor in Safari. Examples are css related (round corners), Image related (png handling), Dom related (Iframes not showing external sites, resize issues, no support to get the browser size). Can you advise me and other Web site developers out there if there will be a more agile release of IE in the future that will implement wishlists from developers?

  • i agree.
  • I have read that the next version of IE will support CSS rounded corners. There's no way to tell whether they will be completely compliant though.

Best bet is to make it work in Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and Opera.... and then use the conditional comment hack to serve up a separate stylesheet for IE. Using jQuery solves most of the Javascript problems as well.

    Thats a very good question.

Unfortunately it is not a question that can be answered. My guess is that eventually future versions of Internet Explorer will make it easier for web site developers to do more with, but until such time that information is released about future versions it is really a case of waiting.

Information about Internet Explorer 9 should start appearing now that PDC has happened, so I think it is a case of keep your eyes open on information about IE9 and see if that is any better for you.
